Flow-structure interference effects with the surrounding structure in the choked quasi-steady condition of tsunami: Comparison with traditional obstruction approach

摘要
•The flow and force characteristics difference between the traditional obstruction setup (b/W) and the realistic adjacent structure setup (b/W*) in the laboratory is sorted out.•The bore characteristics at the structure front remain merely unaffected between the b/W and b/W* setup.•The number of flow separation edges and the structure width can play an important role in bore characteristics at the structure backside.•Symmetrical boundary conditions assumption at the flume wall for the b/W setup shall be avoided in the flow-choked experiments when the scaling effect does not play a role.
