l-Cysteine can enhance the fluorescence of SiQDs/Cu2-β-CD nanoclusters at pH 8; uric acid can attenuate their fluorescence at pH 13. SiQDs = silicon quantum dots; Cu2-β-CD = Cu-modified-β-cyclodextrin; l-Cys = l-cysteine.
