Interaction Between PMSG Based Wind Farm and VSC-HVDC System in ACC Timescale

Due to the interaction between the grid-side converter (GSC) of permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based wind farm and voltage source converter-based high voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) transmission system, power oscillations may occur in grid-connected PMSG based wind farm via VSC-HVDC system. Focusing on the interaction between the PMSG based wind farm and VSC-HVDC system in alternating current control (ACC) timescale, the amplitude-phase dynamics model of interconnected system between PMSG based wind farm and rectifier of VSC-HVDC system is first constructed, of which the validity is verified by time-domain simulation. Then, the influences of the bandwidth of PMSG current control loop, PMSG phase-locked loop and HVDC current control loop on system oscillation stability are analyzed. The results show that the system stability can be improved by reducing the bandwidth of the PMSG current control loop, PMSG phase-locked loop and HVDC current control loop, which provides reference for the design and operation.
