Abstract
A 61-year-old woman presented with vomiting and left flank pain of 2 days’ duration. She had undergone a splenectomy after a motor vehicle accident at the age of 33. The patient had hepatitis C, which was treated and cured in 2015. A computed tomography scan of the abdomen without intravenous contrast showed a 4 × 3 cm intrahepatic lesion (Figure A, blue arrow) that had similar density to a 3-cm area of splenosis (Figure A, white arrow) in the left upper quadrant. A triple-phase computed tomography scan showed a hypervascular lesion in segment 3 (Figure B) of the liver, which was concerning for hepatocellular carcinoma.
