摘要

•We have validated a MS assay for proNPY, NPY, and their metabolites in plasma.•NPYs were measured in healthy volunteers and PPGL patients throughout surgery.•NPYs were above the upper reference limit in 20–67% of PPGL patients.•Plasma free metanephrines perform better than NPYs in the detection of PPGL.•NPYs may be a substitute when treatments interfere with catecholamine reuptake.
