Abstract
•Pristine and amino-functionalized MIL-101(Fe)-doped cement composites were studied.•Compressive strength can be efficiently increased by adding a small amount of MILs.•Experimental and DFT results demonstrated the in situ formation of Ca-BDC complex.•The enhancement mechanism of doped MILs on cement pastes was proposed in detail.
