Roundtable on Equity and Inclusion in Advertising Since the Racial Reckoning of 2020

A panel of academics and industry leaders came together to discuss diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts in the advertising industry since the racial reckoning of 2020. This is the third installment of a roundtable series focused on equity and inclusion in the advertising industry (the first two parts having taken place in early May 2020). Participants discuss many topics: the state of DEI efforts in the advertising industry since the murder of George Floyd in May 2020; the authenticity of brands’ and agencies’ DEI efforts in creative work and within the workplace; how to implement DEI initiatives; examples of successful DEI programs in ad agencies; and advice for practitioners, professors, and students on how to achieve a more equitable, inclusive, and diverse world through advertising.
