摘要

•Direct esterification of acrylic acid with 2-ethylhexanol was investigated using convenient Zn(II) catalysts.•The best catalyst revealed to be Zn(ClO4)2 with a 99 % yield of the ester in 4 h.•A kinetic modeling quantified the contribution of each chemical reaction of the network.
