Risk factors for depression in trauma-exposed children and adolescents: A systematic review and meta-analysis

•Risk factors for post-traumatic depression in youth are poorly understood.•We identified 12 risk factors for post-traumatic depression (k = 57, N = 45,981).•Small effect sizes were found for pre-trauma and trauma-related risk factors.•Small to large effect sizes were found for post-trauma variables (e.g. PTSD).•This evidence is based on cross-sectional studies only and is highly heterogeneous.
