•We evaluated cutoffs for treatment response and remission on the OCI-R.•A ≥40% reduction on the OCI-R was the optimal cutoff for treatment response.•An OCI-R score of ≤8 was the optimal cutoff for remission.•These cutoffs are simple to use if clinician assessments are not feasible.
