Abstract
Cage speed measurement has been extensively studied for the testing of aerospace bearing; however, existing cage-speed measurement methods have limitations such as damage to the bearing structure or changes in the physical characteristics of the bearing. Therefore, this paper proposes a non-contact cage-speed monitoring method to address the limitations of existing methods. This method enables the real-time monitoring of cage speed by measuring weak changes in the magnetic field during the operation of an aerospace bearing. Compared with existing studies, the proposed method is advantageous because it is non-destructive, does not require changes in the physical properties of the bearing, and is not affected by environmental visibility. In this study, the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified by combining simulations and experiments. Furthermore, a comparison with optical measurement results shows that weak magnetic detection is highly accurate. Therefore, the method proposed in this study has excellent application prospects.
