•The effectiveness of CTIndex as a fatigue indicating parameter was studied.•CTIndex depicted higher cracking resistance of stiffer yet elastic binders.•CTIndex correlated well with the binder and mixture fatigue indices.•Good correlations between CTIndex and rheological-chemical parameters were observed.
