Abstract
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a safe and effective treatment, especially in psychotic late-life depression (LLD). However, it is not yet clear whether this is because of a shorter index episode duration. The first study aim is to substantiate the superior ECT remission rates in patients with psychotic LLD, as compared to patients with non-psychotic LLD, and a second aim is to investigate whether this association is independent from the index duration.
