Abstract
•The N-functionalized porous carbon (NFPC) derived from ZIF-8 was prepared in a cleaner way.•The NFPC-1000 had 203.4 and 297.1 mg·g−1 adsorption capacity of acetone and toluene.•NFPC shows excellent regeneration performance for toluene adsorption.•The affinity difference, N-functional groups and the cation-π bonding caused the difference of acetone and toluene adsorption.
