ZIF-67 templated thin-film composite forward osmosis membrane: Importance of incorporation method on morphology and performance

•ZIF-67 nanoparticles were used as a sacrificial template to prepare nanoporous TFC membranes.•The effects of different incorporation methods were studied.•In-situ synthesis of ZIF-67 shows better performance.•The nanoporous TFC membrane presented superior water flux with reasonable selectivity.
