Structural and electromagnetic characterization of yttrium doped copper ferrite

•Investigation of Yittrium doped ferrite for its potential use in radio frequency devices.•Formation of Stable tetragonal phase in copper ferrites.•Effect of rare earth doping on stable tetragonal copper ferrite instead of cubic structure.•Low dielectric and magnetic loss along with stable magnetodielectric characteristics suggest this sample as substrate for miniaturized antenna applications.
