Impacts of changing climate on the distribution of Solenopsis invicta Buren in Mainland China: Exposed urban population distribution and suitable habitat change

•Temperature and precipitation show significant impact on the S. invicta.•The urban population residing in the southeast coast is primarily exposed to S. invicta suitable habitats.•S. invicta was predicted to expand their habitat under future climate assumptions.•The expansion of suitable habitat will tend to be northern in the future.
