Winery waste valorisation as microalgae culture medium: A step forward for food circular economy

•Winery wastewater was used to grow a co-culture of C. vulgaris and A. platensis.•A maximum biomass concentration of 5.54 gDW/L was achieved.•Ultrasound assisted extraction leads to an increase of protein recovery.•The resistivity to cell rupture was affected by the wastewater treatment.
