摘要

•Amorphous featureless film of Cr and Zr alloy, fabricated by magnetron co-sputtering with the suitable composition.•Corrosion mechanism of amorphous Cr-Zr film was revealed using EIS and XPS.•An amorphous featureless structure plays an important role to corrosion behaviour by inhibiting penetration of solution.•Co-existing of Cr and Zr reduces the dissolution of passive film formed on the CrZr film.
