Modelling of a Microwave Rectangular Waveguide with a Dielectric Layer and Longitudinal Slots

The characteristics of a microwave rectangular waveguide with a dielectric layer and longitudinal slots are investigated. It is shown that by choosing the dielectric constant and the thickness of the dielectric layer, one can significantly reduce the transverse dimensions of the linear waveguide-slot grating without deteriorating the electrodynamic characteristics. It is revealed that a waveguide-slot grating based on a microwave rectangular waveguide with a dielectric layer is wider than a waveguide-slot grating of the same electrical length based on a hollow microwave rectangular waveguide.
