Anti-inflammaging effects of black soybean and black rice mixture extract by reprogramming of mitochondrial respirations in murine macrophages

•Aging exacerbates the inflammatory responses in both M1 and M2 BMDMs, for which the phenomenon was termed as inflammaging.•Mitochondrial oxygen consumption in BMDMs was increased by black rice and black bean mixture extract (BBME) in aged-mice.•Increment in oxygen consumption by BBME further drove macrophage subsets into M2-like anti-inflammatory phenotypes.
