Crystal plasticity modeling of ultrasonic softening effect considering anisotropy in the softening of slip systems

•Acousto-plasticity was modeled considering nonuniform softening among slip systems.•The model implemented in VPSC was validated on micro-tensile tests of pure copper.•Model suggests softening is not homogenous and is dependent on grain orientation.•Higher stress reduction is predicted in grains with high Taylor factor.
