Abstract
— Two-phase YFeO 3 nanoparticles consisting of both the orthorhombic and hexagonal phases (according to X-ray diffraction results) have been synthesized by a modified Pechini process. The particles range in size from 6 to 67 nm, corresponding to the nanorange, which has been ensured by the use of ethylene glycol as a gelling agent (transmission electron microscopy results). Their magnetic properties have been studied at 100 and 300 K, and the results show that the nanocrystals are weak ferromagnets and that their properties depend on synthesis conditions.
