Photo- and Mechanoluminescent Properties of SrAl 2 O 4 :(Eu 2+ , Dy 3+ ) Phosphor and Its Use for Visualization of Deformation Dynamics of Materials

— The deformation of materials that arises under the action of high-power laser pulses was studied. Polymer and phosphor powder composite mechanoluminescent materials were used to visualize and to record the deformation dynamics. Mechanoluminescent materials were applied to the surface of the materials studied. We showed that the spatial distribution of the luminescence intensity of the mechanoluminescent layer and the rate of its change make it possible to assess the magnitude and the rate of deformation of materials under laser pulses. The kinetics and photoluminescence spectrum of composite materials were studied under the combined action of short-wave and long-wave laser radiation. We showed that the photoluminescence excited by a long-wavelength laser is due to the activation of populated levels of traps.
