Abstract
Business intelligence (BI) adoption in developing countries including Jordan is still under development. This study examines the factors impacting the decision to adopt BI and its impact on decision-making performance. A model was proposed which comprises unaddressed factors and the reported key factors relating to BI adoption. A questionnaire was prepared and used to gather data from 22 Jordanian insurance companies that were involved in BI adoption following the model. A total of 153 responses were analysed using partial least squares path modelling. Factors associated with BI adoption were determined. The most positive and significant determinants of BI adoption were: Compatibility, relative advantage, information quality, and system quality. Complexity was significantly and negatively linked to BI adoption. Further, BI adoption was positively linked to decision-making performance. This study could assist managers of insurance companies in increasing the use and expansion of BI in Jordan.
