Service operations of electric vehicle carsharing systems from the perspectives of supply and demand: A literature review

•We comprehensively summarize the literature on EV-carsharing systems from the perspectives of supply and demand.•Compared with ICEV-carsharing systems, we summarize the characteristics of EV-carsharing systems from the aspects of practice and research.•From the EV-carsharing system supply side, we survey optimization models and algorithms in each theme.•From the EV-carsharing system demand side, we categorize and summarize the factors affecting demand and demand forecasting methods.•We propose future research directions from multiple perspectives.
