The North Sistan orogen (Eastern Iran): Tectono-metamorphic evolution and significance within the Tethyan realm
Gondwana Research(2022)
Abstract
•Sistan collision was soft: shortening <40 km and no implication of the basement.•A subduction was active at ∼90 Ma and an intra-oceanic slicing began at ∼73 Ma.•Intra-oceanic slicing led to obduction process which ended at ∼50 Ma.•Slow spreading rate Sistan Ocean may open in a transtensional regime at ∼125 Ma.
