Comparison of Coprime Array and Uniform Array in Microwave Power Transfer Based on Time Reversal

Abstract
In this paper, through the comparative analysis of the Coprime Array (CA) and the Uniform Array (UA), the influence of Time Reversal Mirror (TRM) units’ distribution is studied in Microwave Power Transfer (MPT). Based on the advantages of the time reversal (TR) technique in MPT, the performance of CA and UA is compared in the metal resonant cavity, and the advantages of CA are highlighted. In the simulation, five representative charging point positions are selected, and the relationship between the changes of whose the abscissa and ordinate and MPT results is analyzed. The plane field intensity distribution and focal spot features gained by simulation show that compared to UA, CA performs well at more positions in Power Transfer Efficiency (PTE) and Charging Point Deviation (CPD). In addition, Half Power Beam Width (HPBW) and side lobe field intensity are related to TRM units’ distribution and are affected by factors such as the charging point position and cavity structure. The results will provide guidance for the adaptive transmitter design in the future according to the MPT characteristics of the two array distributions in different charging point positions.
