Abstract
A metasurface lens for low profile and high transmittance is proposed. The low-profile element, consisting of a double ring, has a large operating bandwidth from 22.5 GHz to 25.5 GHz, phase compensation from 0° to 360°, and high transmittance. Thus, a metasurface lens with the size of $14.9 \lambda \times$ $14.9 \lambda \times 0.7 \lambda$ is constructed, where $\lambda$ is a wavelength with a central frequency of 24 GHz and the electric field intensity at the focus is 26.5 dB. Compared with 3-D dielectric lens, the proposed metasurface lens has the characteristics of light weight, low profile and low cost. In the future, it can be used as high gain low profile lens antenna or electromagnetic focusing schemes.
