5G RAN research in Óbuda University

In the Óbuda University, the Kálmán Kandó Faculty of Electrical Engineering in cooperation with the John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics, we declared several 5G RAN research tasks. The primary goal of our research is to detect vulnerabilities in 5G RAN implementations. We arrange our vulnerability testing of the communication on the radio side, on the 5G NR interface, and the internal, wired connections between the RAN devices. Our article describes the preparation process of the research, a description of Machine to Machine (M2M) communication and a comparison of M2M and Internet of Things (IoT) communication, a comparison of 4G LTE and 5G communication, and a comparison of 5G Architecture modes.
