(Digital Presentation) Carbon Aerogel Platinum-Praseodymium Oxide Nanocatalyst for Methanol Oxidation in 0.5 M Sulfuric Acid

Abstract
Platinum-praseodymium oxide nanocatalyst deposited onto carbon aerogel support was synthesized. The physical properties of the material were characterized by X-ray diffraction, low-temperature nitrogen adsorption, thermogravimetric analysis, and high-resolution scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis. The electrochemically active surface area of the material was determined, and the catalytic activity towards methanol electrooxidation was studied in 0.5 M sulfuric acid and 1 M methanol solution using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The synthesized material exhibited high methanol oxidation activity and showed promising characteristics for application in direct methanol fuel cells.
