Research on Transmission Line Tower Strain Monitoring and Time Series Prediction Model

Abstract
Strain online monitoring has become an important means of transmission tower safety assessment, and the prediction of tower strain time series has great significance to the early warning of tower failure. This paper proposed an online monitoring system of tower strain based on fiber Bragg grating strain monitoring, the installation method of sensor has been explored. The test results show that installation using designed “L” shaped fixture has good measurement accuracy. The monitoring system has been installed on an actual 500kV transmission tower, and the measured strain data of weak components has been obtained. A medium-short term strain prediction model based on ARIMA and a ultra-short term prediction model based on ARIMA-LSTM combination have been proposed, which provide a basis for the early warning of tower failure. The research results in this paper are of great significance to the condition maintenance and disaster prevention of transmission lines.
