Fast methods based on mass spectrometry for peptide identification. Application to sex determination of human remains in tooth enamel

•Two fast methods are proposed to assign biological sex to prehistoric human remains.•Sex identification can be performed without the need of high-resolution MS.•Many laboratories could perform the analysis as instrumentation costs are reduced.•The run time is considerably reduced compared to existing methods in the literature.
