摘要
The Front Cover shows the effects of through-space electrostatic interactions on the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Elucidating the effects of various structural components on small molecule activation is of fundamental significance. Particularly, examining the effect of positively charged substituents on HER is intriguing, because this effect has been rarely studied for HER but has been demonstrated to be able to improve the activity and selectivity of the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR). This work sheds light on the design of HER catalysts and will be also valuable for the design of catalysts for CO2RR because HER and CO2RR take place at close thermodynamic potentials and compete with each other.
