•Non-targeted analysis identified molecular features associated with preeclampsia.•Molecular feature and patient clusters highlight unique exposure signatures.•Human metabolites, exogenous drugs and non-drugs were detected in placentas.•Metabolites were most abundant and had strongest relation to multi-omic signatures.•Exogenous non-drugs were least abundant and had weaker relation to multi-omic signatures.
