Dementia is a clinical syndrome which results from progressive degeneration of the brain functions . In addition, psychosocial factors have also been documented to be associated with the progression of dementia . Dementia is a major contributor to the disability with impacts on every aspect of the life of people living with dementia (PWD) . Furthermore, dementia may jeopardise the personhood of PWD . As a shift from the one-sided biomedical approach to managing dementia, the biopsychosocial approach has been described as a holistic form of approach which takes cognizance of the person 'behind' dementia and not just the disease process only .
