Design Optimization and Safety Performance Analysis of Wireless Power Transfer System across 500kV Insulator Distance

In order to realize the stable and continuous power supply for intelligent monitoring equipment on 500kV High-Voltage Transmission Lines (HVTLs), a Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) system across insulator distance is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the transfer characteristics are analyzed theoretically based on the selected topology. Then the model is built in the finite element simulation software to optimize the parameters of the coils. Whether the WPT system would damage the insulation performance of transmission lines is figured out by analyzing the distribution of the electric field and the voltage differences between the insulator sheds. Moreover, the structure of grading rings is further optimized simultaneously to improve the voltage distribution. The simulation results proved the feasibility of the system proposed, which features in a robust transfer performance without any influences on the steady operation of the HVTLs.
