Abstract
In recent years, the number of electric vehicle (EV) chargers grows rapidly. However, the relatively poor management of EV chargers has caused a relatively low utilization rate and even waste of resources. Moreover, large-scale integration of EVs affects the power system operation. Aiming at exploiting the potential of EV chargers and solving overvoltage limit problems, this paper proposes a control strategy of three-phase connected EV charger to realize its participation in power system reactive power response. Firstly, the basic model of EV charger with three-phase connection is introduced. Then, the control flow of the EV charger is established. Finally, the simulation results verify the feasibility of the proposed control logic. In addition, the power adjustment range is obtained by limiting the line current. The results of this paper can be applied in the distribution network for reactive power compensation considering the demand-side response.
