Abstract

•This study introduces a provider-level, claims-based measure of MOUD provision.•38 % of Medicaid patients with opioid use disorder received medication.•The interquartile ranges were 11 %–79 % (clinicians) and 9 %–45 % (facilities).•The measure reliably distinguished between higher- and lower-performing providers.•Measure scores were inversely correlated with SUD-related hospitalizations.
