The features of patients with lupus anticoagulant result presenting as negative screen test and positive normalized ratio

•Whether a LA result with negative screen and positive normalized ratio (NR) should be considered positive is controversial.•Patients with negative Screen Ratio and positive NR had similar clinical significance to those with typical positive LA.•The lower screen results of the patients with atypical positive LA might mainly due to higher levels of coagulation factors.
