Individualized generation of young women's crotch curve based on body images

Abstract
To improve the clothing fit at the crotch position, this study proposed a method to generate the crotch curve of the human body based on image measurements. 152 female college students aged 18–25 were measured through 3D point-cloud data, and the parameters related with the crotch shape, including heights and thicknesses, were obtained according to 11 key points on the crotch curve for correlation and regression analysis. The fitting rules of the crotch curve were built with five parameters, including waist thickness, waist-hip height, abdominal thickness, hip thickness and waist-abdomen height. To realize the automatically simulation based on body images, the navel point, abdomen convex point and buttock point were analyzed to exact the five parameters based on the human contour, and then 11 key points on the crotch curve could be determined. Through comparison, the result shows that the fitted crotch curve is basically consistent with the actual crotch curve, and the errors of four parameters are mainly between −5 and 5 mm. The generation method of the individual crotch curve based on body images were feasible, and can provide a new thought to realize the 3D modeling based on body images.
