Association of D-dimer with long-term prognosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with acute coronary syndrome

•We firstly found out the independent prognostic value of D-dimer among type 2 DM patients with ACS in Chinese population.•The Kaplan–Meier analysis showed patients with higher concentration of D-dimer presented lower event-free survival rates.•Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that D-dimer is an independent risk factor for adverse outcomes.•We found that D-dimer could predict future outcomes in different glucose control status.
