•Nonlinear and linearized OTSG models for LBE cooled fast reactor are presented.•The OTSG superheated region is divided into three control volumes.•Two control schemes are proposed to control steam pressure, and proof for stability is provided.•Controller parameters are designed based on classical control theory.•Controllers are validated by simulations of four typical transients in time domain.
