Abstract
At present, many car companies consider the use of battery rental model in the sales process in view of the problem that the price of new energy vehicles (NEVs) is higher than that of internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs) of the same level. NIO has implemented the BaaS model of battery rental in swappable vehicles. However, the current market of NEVs accounts for a larger proportion of the unswappable vehicles, so it is of great significance to study the economy of unswappable vehicles under the battery rental model. In this paper, by comparing the total cost of ownership for consumers to buy ICEV, NEV with whole vehicles, and NEV with battery rental model, we can get the best rental pricing range for both consumers and battery operators. Rental pricing, battery cost, maintenance and operation costs, battery residual value, body scrap ratio, and battery rental model sales all have an impact on the economy of battery operators. In this paper, the mode of “battery lease + cascade utilization” is proposed considering that the utilization of the back-end step can further improve the residual value of the battery, save the cost of recycling the battery and improve the recovery rate.
