Abstract
By loading a reconfigurable partially reflective surface (PRS), switching radiation pattern is achieved for an Fabry-Perot antenna consists of a patch antenna. The PRS is formed by a curved metal structure element on a dielectric substrate and controllable PIN diodes are carefully designed to make the transmission phase reconfigurable. Through the design several states with different beam width among 20.6° to 111.5° are realized while the high gain property of FP antenna is guaranteed. Compared with the original patch antenna, a minimum 10.85dBi gain increase is obtained.
