Simulation of Righting A Capsized Ship in Wave Environment

Abstract
Mathematical models of ship stability and uprighting, righting force calculation formula and the action of wave parameters on the hull are established. Through the analysis of the uprighting process of a capsized hull in sea state Ⅲ , it is shown that the righting force moment has larger difference under all conditions, the maximum difference is 1177.5 kN.m. The shear force of specific positions when wave encounter angle is 0°, are about three or four times as great as those when wave encounter angle is 300°. Wave encounter angle can significantly influence the distribution of the torque and bending moment, with the bending moment variation more than 200% in one or two special positions. The negative torque variation is relatively small when wave encounter angle is 300°, the uprighting process still needs big righting force.
