Study on robust model construction method of multi-batch fruit online sorting by near-infrared spectroscopy

•The prediction model of tomatoes’ soluble solids content was established based on near-infrared spectroscopy.•The multivariate statistical process control (MSPC) method was adopted to detect strong influence samples and establish a stability monitor model.•Robustness regression (Rob-Reg) method can effectively overcome overfitting and obtain stable prediction results.•The MSPC combined with Rob-Reg method can be used to establish robust online sorting model of tomato quality.
