Abstract
With the growing digitalization of industry and stronger demand for interconnection between people, machines and products in future smart factory and cloud control scenarios, wireless communication technology is thriving and shows tremendous advantages in terms of flexibility, versatility, usability and efficiency. Nonetheless, wireless communication still faces great challenges on communication reliability and security under certain use cases. Most traditional methods focus on hardware like communication devices to enhance communication reliability. Therefore, these methods are less configurable and lacks ease of use. This paper provides a universal methodology on enhancing reliability and security of data transmission by applying fountain code encoding on applications, regardless of hardware configuration. Then, an overall comparison is given on several fountain code schemes in terms of complexity, security, robustness, adaptivity and extensibility.
