Abstract
•The flotation separation of PET/ABS/PS is achieved stepwise by PAC.•The purity of PET, ABS, and PS reaches 100%, 100%, and 97.4%, respectively.•Interaction mechanism between PAC and plastic surface is investigated.•Process optimization reduces PAC usage to 84.4 g/ton waste plastics.•Overall assessment demonstrates the feasibility and potential of the strategy.
