Design and implementation of HPLC Communication module in Smart Grid

Abstract In allusion to the problems of lower speed, weak anti-interference ability based on narrow band PLC (Power Line Communications) technology, a kind of HPLC (High-speed Power Line Communications) module used in ubiquitous power intelligent electricity acquisition system is designed. The HPLC module takings the SOC chip SC3105 as the master control chip transmit user datum between a concentrator and meters in high speed. Using abundant interrupts and timers, the system software fast processes accurate service messages and network management messages. The memory management mechanism of the system software recovers memory fragments and improves the use efficiency of memory, so as to keeping system stable. The test results show the module has over 1Mbps communication speed, 100% reading meter success rate, shorter reading meter time, and excellent communication performance in city power grids and village power grids, which solves the problems of narrow band PLC technology.
